Have Questions About This Building?

Materials & Construction Standards

Engineer Certified

The majority of Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds are Engineer Certified… so you can have confidence that when you buy an Old Hickory building, it’ll meet International Building Code (IBC) standards for Minor Storage Facilities (Occupancy Category 1).

5 Year Building Warranty & Limited Material Warranties

Old Hickory offers you peace of mind – with a limited 5-year warranty backed by a company that has been in business since 1997, you can trust that Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds will be there if you need them, and with our warranty written, there will be no surprises in the rare event of a claim. Siding and Roofing materials are all backed by their limited manufacturer’s warranty against fungal decay, rot, termite damage, or rust-through (for metal roofing).

Metal or Shingle Roof – Same Price

Give your shed & backyard landscape an upgraded look with our 29-gauge metal roof, available in a wide array of colors and backed by a 30-year limited warranty. OR… match your home’s roof for looks or for HOA compliance using our residential grade architectural shingles, available in commonly used colors.

T1-11 Buildings Are Water Sealed & Double Studded at the Seams

T1-11 siding is water sealed and wall studs are doubled wherever our T1-11 siding has a seam, so that both sections of siding will have a full stud width to be fastened to. This prevents edge tear-outs on the siding and strong adhesion that will stand up to strong winds and years of use. T1-11 siding is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Buildings with LP Smart Siding Include 16” On-Center Studs & Doubled Top Plates

Painted Sheds utilize LP Smart Panel siding and feature 16in On-Center Studs, 24in On-Center Trusses, and a Doubled Top-Plate to support the load from roof trusses and lock together intersecting walls. LP Smart Siding is covered by LP’s warranty.

Ring-Shanked & Galvanized Nails

Exposed nails are ring-shanked and galvanized for rust prevention. Ring-shank nails have twice the withdrawal strength of smooth-shank nails. The rings around the nail shank lock into each groove along the shank, resulting in a nail that holds tight despite extreme wind or cyclical moisture conditions.

Diamond-Plate Door Threshold

The diamond-plate door threshold cap creates a solid step that can handle constant abuse from foot traffic and equipment wheels. It prevents wear and tear on the exposed edges of the floor decking at the entrance of the shed… ensuring years of use without cracking, splintering, or delaminating.

Flooring System Choices & Upgrades

Choose between Engineered Tongue & Groove flooring for a smooth appearance or Pressure Treated Square Edge flooring for rustic durability. Both options provide dependable performance and long-term value. Standard flooring thickness is 5/8” but can be upgraded to ¾” or even doubled to increase load capacity. Standard floor joists are 2x4” spaced at 16” on-center but can be upgraded to 2x6” and/or 12” on-center spacing.

4x6” Treated & Notched Skids

Buildings feature 4x6” pressure treated skids that resist rotting and are notched to ensure consistent floor joist spacing. Recessing and toenailing the joists in the notches locks them in place and ensures the shed can be loaded, unloaded, and moved repeatedly without any warping or racking of the floor system.

Building Measurements Are Nominal

12’ wide and wider buildings are measured across the eaves due to DOT regulations. For double-wide buildings, 24’ wide and wider are measured across the eaves. All others are measured across outside wall corners. All measurements are within a 5% build tolerance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I request pricing for your buildings and/or a brochure with details of your products? +
Please use our online brochure request form. Once you enter your zip code and some limited contact information, a brochure with pricing for your area will be sent to you automatically: request your brochure here.
Is FREE delivery available for areas further than a 30-mile radius of my local dealer? +
In most areas, FREE delivery is only available within 30 miles of your local dealer (extended to 50 miles in some areas of the Southwest). Any distance beyond FREE delivery radius will be subject to an additional charge per mile.
Does Old Hickory Buildings grade the ground, pour foundations/footers or otherwise prepare the site for delivery? +
Typically, our buildings are set up on wood shims (included FREE) or concrete blocks that either the purchaser provides, or the delivery driver will provide at an additional charge. Some customers prefer their building to be set on gravel or concrete, which is a personal preference and is NOT required. Old Hickory does not offer grading or foundation services. Those must be contracted independently by the customer and completed in advance of the shed delivery if needed.
Does Old Hickory offer build-on-site if delivering a pre-built shed isn’t an option? +
Yes, in many areas… Old Hickory offers a build-on-site option for situations where delivery of a completed building is not an option. You can design your building using our 3D builder and then speak with us about build-on-site options, fees, and scheduling. Customers will be responsible for painting/staining/sealing their building when construction is complete.
How long are the delivery lead times? +
Delivery lead-times can vary somewhat by location, season and the type of order. Delivery lead-time for inventory buildings is approximately 1-2 weeks, but can take longer during busy sales seasons. Lead-time for custom buildings can range based on seasonality, location and complexity of the building, but is generally 4-6 weeks. We appreciate your understanding and patience should there be any unforeseen delays in your delivery. We’ll do our best to communicate any delays to you.
Where can I find shed color codes and available custom shed colors? +
You can find shed colors and their color codes offered by Sherwin Williams on their site, here. Just click on the “+ Add a Color” button and it’ll bring up the color library for the A100 base, which is what we use. Most of the colors shown can be done as custom shed colors. Please ask your dealer about availability. You can also use our 3D Builder by clicking under the “Colors & Finishes” menu and searching for any Sherwin Williams custom color by entering the color name or code, or by just typing keywords like “green”, “blue”, etc. which will show a list of colors that fit your search.
Does Old Hickory ever offer a reduction in prices? +
We often offer a variety of deals and discounts to help our customers get the best value. We continuously monitor market trends and adjust our pricing based on fluctuations in material and labor costs. You can often find discounts on buildings that have been unsold for a while or on new inventory buildings, depending on your region. Ask us about our current discounts.
Do you offer a military discount? +
Yes, we do offer military discounts. To receive a military discount, an active military ID that matches the purchaser’s name is required. Military discounts are also limited to the sale of new buildings (not used).
Can Old Hickory Buildings convert my shed into a tiny home? +
Unfortunately, Old Hickory does not provide those services and, therefore, we cannot advise on it. We recommend reaching out to a local contractor in your area. Our barns and sheds are built as portable storage solutions and are not intended as living spaces. Many customers do convert them, but extra attention would need to be paid by a licensed contractor to modify the building to satisfy residential building codes.
Does Old Hickory Buildings offer interior finishings (i.e., electrical work, plumbing, insulation, drywall installation, etc.)? +
Unfortunately, we do not provide any interior finishing options, such as electrical, plumbing, insulation, drywall, etc. Customers will often make additions, customize or “finish out” their buildings in various ways once paid for and delivered, but we recommend that you hire an experienced contractor to do this work since improperly done finishing work can cause a safety or fire hazard or cause damage to your Old Hickory building and therefore void aspects of the warranty.
Does Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds sell non-assembled shed kits? +
No, we do not sell non-assembled buildings or shed kits. The advantage of purchasing from Old Hickory is that your building will be professionally built and will arrive completely assembled (unless you require our Build-On-Site services, which are not available in all areas).
Are locks included on the doors of your buildings? +
Yes, all of our doors come with installed locks.
I’d like to have my building delivered, but my property is fenced in. Is there any way to deliver the building without breaking down the fencing surrounding my property? +
You will need to notify your dealer before you purchase if the site is not accessible by truck and trailer and/or the site is more than 3 feet out of level. Our Build-on-site option is a great option when the shed location is inaccessible by truck and trailer, but requires an additional charge paid directly to the builder.
Who can I contact to get building or delivery updates for my purchase with Old Hickory Buildings? +
For updates on the construction and/or delivery timeline for your Old Hickory order, please contact the delivery driver who has been assigned to you. Their contact information can be found on the Thank You page of the sales or rent-to-own contract you signed and was provided at the time of sale.
Where can I file a warranty claim online? +
If you believe you are experiencing an issue with your building that is covered by our warranty, you can file a claim here: www.oldhickorybuildings.com/warranty_form. Our warranty department will review it and get back to you as soon as possible. We appreciate your feedback. It’s what helps us continue to improve.
Where can I purchase additional keys, locks, and other replaceable accessories for my building? +
If you need additional or replacement keys, please call our main office at (615) 890-8075 and ask to speak with Customer Service. We can pull the original information for your shed and order replacement keys for $10 + tax with a card over the phone. Please note that delivery times for replacement/additional keys are beyond our control as we rely on the door handle supplier. A quicker option would be to order a replacement doorknob with new keys from www.shed-supply.com or by visiting your local home improvement store.
Where do I make payments for my purchase? +
For Rent-to-Own purchases, you will need to contact your rental company for payment options. For all other purchases, contact your local dealer, and they may assist you with payment options. The contact information for your rental company is noted on the rent-to-own contract you signed and was provided at the time of sale.
How do I cancel an order? +
If you wish to cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible. Potential cancellation fees may apply.
